The anti-AKAP4 mouse monoclonal antibody clone 10F8 recognizes the carboxy -terminal region of A-kinase anchor protein 4 (AKAP4). This antibody is suitable for Western Blot, for Immunohistochemistry, for Electron Microscopy, for Flow cytometry and Immunofluorescence.
This monoclonal antibody was produced from a mouse hybridoma resulting from a mouse immunized with a peptide covering the C-terminus of human AKAP4 protein sequence (Uniprot ref. Q5JQC9) which is 90% homologous between mammals.
This antibody is determined by its ability to recognise the C-terminus human AKAP4 protein. The monoclonal antibody (clone 10F8) recognizes both the pro-form of AKAP4 (110 kDa / 854 AA) and the AKAP4 (82 kDa / 665 AA) but does not react with the prodomain (21 kDa). It reacts also with AKAP4 proteins from horse, bull, mouse, rat and ram semens.

AKAP 4 (A-Kinase Anchor Protein 4) protein belongs to the family of A-kinase anchor proteins (AKAPs) all sharing a common function of binding to the regulatory subunit of protein kinase A (PKA) and confining the PKA holoenzyme to discrete locations within the cell.
The human AKAP4 gene is located on chromosome X and encodes a 854 amino acid polypeptide localized in the fibrous sheath of the sperm flagellum, AKAP4 plays a major role in sperm motility. AKAP4 is also named AKAP-4, AKAP82 (A-Kinase Anchor Protein 82 KDa), PRKA4 (Protein Kinase A Anchoring Protein 4), HI, CT99 (Cancer/Testis Antigen 99), FSC1 (Fibrous sheath component 1) or P82.
Mouse monoclonal antibody clone 10F8 (reference 4BDX-1805) recognizes the carboxy-terminal region of A-kinase anchor protein 4 (AKAP4) and is suitable for Western Blot, for Immunohistochemistry, for Electron Microscopy, for Flow cytometry and Immunofluorescence.
According the litterature, sperm from high fertility bulls have higher expression of AKAP4 than low fertility bulls (Peddinti et al. 2008). In humans, a decrease in AKAP4 was observed in nonfertile patients with normal sperm parameters (Frapsauce et al. 2014).
Check out the 4BioDx antibody with the reference 4BDX-1701 (clone 6F12) that recognizes the N-terminal region of A-kinase anchor protein 4 (AKAP4) and is suitable for Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, ELISA, Electron Microscopy and Immunofluorescence.
